Collection development is an ongoing process of improvement- a time consuming, tedious task that requires constant attention. So how do you keep up with the plethora of new titles published every year? Because the Selection Materials Policy in all school districts have strict guidelines and budgets are limited, how do you decide which book is best for purchase? How do you share these new books once they have been added to your collection? Attend this session to learn about professional selection tools, spend time reading reviews from multiple sources, and discover the “formula” for writing a review. At the conclusion of the session, attendees will have tools to confidently select books for purchase. Added bonus: attendees will understand how to write reviews, a necessary skill for Bluebonnet, 2x2, Lone Star, Caldecott, Newbery, and all other book selection committee work.
